ATENA (in Attic Ἀθηνᾶ, Athēnâ), the new Iconoclastic lady, is not a Muse in the traditional sense but refers to the pantheon of the Greek deities taking up archetypes and symbols and becomes an inspiring figure through the various meanings that it represents.
Atena is in fact the Greek Goddess of wisdom, arts and strategy in battle, who prefers to brute action a non-violent conflict, the result of intellect and tactical reasoning. It has various functions: it defends and advises heroes, instructs industrious women, orients the judges of the courts, inspires artisans and protects children.
Since ancient art, Athena is always depicted dressed with peplos and often armed, surrounded by its sacred symbols: the owl Athena noctua, the helmet, the spear, the shield and the Aegis.
ICONOCLASTIC revisits the classic Atena maintaining some distinctive features recognizes as emblematic of the contemporary female figure: helmet, shield and spear symbolize the weapons with which women cope with the pitfalls of the world, but they do it with intelligence and courage and grace.
